Zaynab Makhlough, who served as a member of panel of arbiters in the women’s section of Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition, made the remark in an interview with IQNA on the sidelines of the contest.

Referring to Verse 9 of Surah Al-Hijr “We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors,” she said God protects the Islamic civilization and its bases and foundations.

She said the Islamic civilization was founded by the Holy Prophet (PBUH), who is a mercy for all the world, and its foundations are based on the Quran that will never be distorted.

Makhlough stressed the importance of making efforts to promote Quranic sciences and skills in memorization, recitation, interpretation and reflection on the Holy Book in the process of making the new Islamic civilization.

She added that Muslims should embrace Quranic moral teachings, act upon them and also spread them among others in the family and society.

The Quran expert went on to say that the Islamic Ummah has its strength from the Holy Quran, Holy Prophet (PBUH), Infallible Imams (AS), and great men of God.

Muslim scholars and Faqihs who have the responsibility of guiding the Muslim Ummah are also a pillar of the Islamic society’s strength, she stated.

Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition was launched in Tehran last Thursday with the participation of 69 reciters and memorizers from 44 countries.

Winners of different categories in the men’s and women’s sections were named and awarded at the closing ceremony held Wednesday evening.

The annual event, organized by Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, aims to promote the Quranic culture and values among Muslims and showcase the talents of Quran reciters and memorizers.
